Richton Park Blues and Bones Fest, Saturday and Sunday, June 2nd and 3rd!
Burgundy Bistro is a sponosor this year. Last year we were a food vendor. This year we're trying to put together a VIP Tent where we are going to have complimentary appetizers and drinks for our VIP guests. We're also planning to share this VIP tent with other vendors and their VIP guests. Sort of a cross promotion thing. Tickrets to the Blues and Bones Fest are just $15 per day. If you buy your tickets from Burgundy Bistro, we'll give you a free pass to the VIP Tent! Aren't we nice people? Yes, we are! For more info about the Blues and Bones Fest, Click here

Peggi Fikac of Flossmoor's Soutland Smiles Dental Office wins our $250 Back to School/Office Supplies Treasure Chest! Peggi came in with several of her co-workers and Dr. Rich Mantoan for lunch. It was going to be a lucky day for one of them because Burgundy Bistro only had five possible combinations to the treasure chest left, so one of them was going to be the winner. And it was Peggi! Thanks to the chivalry of Dr. Mantoan she picked first and got the winning combination.

In the picture from left to right is Peggi Fikac, Cheryl Zara, Chris Rotondi, Linda DiGiovanni and Dr. Rich Mantoan.

The Far Niente Wine Dinner has happened and was absolutely fabulous!
Even if I must say so myself! Everybody had a great time. The only complaint I heard was that the courses were TOO BIG! That's a good complaint. The wines were great, the food was great. My kitchen staff did a tremendous job! As usual. Check out the pictures on the picture page. If you missed this one, there's a wine and food tasting coming up on May 12th.

"Around the World" Wine and Food Tasting
This one is over and we had a great time! Over 70 people attended. We had at least 12 different wines and 40 different dishes from around the world including Spain, Morocco, France, Thailand, Australia, Italy, Africa, Japan, Indonesia and of course the good old U.S. of A.! I manned the carving table and the leg of lamb was the first to go. Everyone enjoyed the Roasted Duck, Duck Confit, Crown Pork Roast, and the Beef Tenders. Pluse the Blackened Steak and salmon, grilled salmon, Cameroon Suyas, Grilled Keftas, Vegetable Moussaka, Chicken and Lintels, Thailand Cabbage Salad, Turkish Salad, Vegetable Couscous, Zucchini Fritter, Potato Cakes, Chicken Cakes with Teriyaki, Albondigas, Yakitori Chicken Skewers, Pot Stickers, Steamed Mussels, Tuna Kabobs, Bulgur Pilaf and a whole bunch more. Including the desserts. White Chocolate Cheesecake, Mexican Chocolate Torte and Chocolate Truffles, all made by me (Harry)! And you couldn't beat the price, all that for just $35! This event was so popular, we changed our menu to "World Cuisine" so be sure to check out the lunch and dinner menus.

Nice review in Time Out Chicago
We got a very nice mention in the Nov 3 - 10 edition of Time Out Chicago. Here's what they say - "Residents of this southern suburb (halfway between Homewood and Park Forest) skip the commute for big city dining in favor of this inviting, decade-old global eatery. A few French favorites dot the menu (bouillabaisse, beef bourguignonne), but don't let the name fool you; the kitchen casts the net far and wide with good renditions of everything from shrimp jambalaya to veggie lasagna. Pick from the barlike atmosphere in the front room or the slighlty more serene back area and put yourself in the hands of friendly servers as honest as the conversational menu. Ingredients are fresh, you can get anything made "your way", and the wine and beer selections are surprisingly good!"
Thank you, Time Out Chicago! Check them out at www.timeoutchicago.com.

Charity banquet raises over $3000 for Tsunami Relief
Many attendees gave more than the minimum $25 donation with some being Premiere Donors giving $500! Harry started planning this event a couple of days after the disaster when he thought relief efforts and donations were minimal. After all, the United States, the greatest and wealthiest country on the planet, only offered $10 million at first. Harry recruited the help of Gary Marqurdt and Rick Reinbold. Gary is a Village Trustee of Richton Park and Rick Reinbold is the Village President. Gary works hard for a good cause and he helped spread the word. Rick gave Harry some good suggestions and offered to put the info about the banquet on Richton Park's Website and Cable Channel, which they did in a very quick fashion. And Bob Lukens from the Chicago Southland Convention and Visitors Bureau also put had the info put out on their website. Harry compared these initial actions as "flapping our collective butterfly wings" in reference to the "butterfly effect" where a butterfly flaps its wings in the Amazon jungle and 2 hours later a storm hits New York.

Soon after the initial planning stages of the banquet took place, the U.S. upped its donation to $35 million! Harry sent out emails to his regular customers about the banquet. Again more butterfly wings flapping. Donations start pouring in from the world and the U.S. raised its donation to $350 million! Harry then sends out press releases to the news stations in Chicago and they start their own donation telethons! Again more butterfly wings flapping! All in all the world donates around $4 billion to the relief effort, all due in part to Harry flapping his little butterfly wings way back on Dec 29th to get the ball rolling! Well, anyway, that's the way Harry sees it!

Again thanks, to all those who attended and to those who couldn't attend, but donated anyway. And thank you to GFS for donating the chicken breasts! You all were extremely generous! Check out the pictures on the picture page!
